The World Health Organisation has issued a request for contact tracing to be set up for those who are confirmed to have caught monkeypox in Spain, Portugal and the United States.
Yesterday seven cases of the virus were confirmed in the Madrid region, with a further 24 suspected cases.
Whilst the cases have mostly been linked to two outbreaks, people have been asked to remain vigilant to any sudden rashes or swelling that may occur.
However health officials have said that transmission is low, and there is a low level of concern over the situation.
